Doujin music mentioned on DJ Mag!
While it isn’t rare anymore to hear or read about doujinshi culture and comiket on western specialised or mainstream media it is much more difficult to find any mentions of the music side of the scene. Back in Janurary 2021 I had the opportunity to write a column for DJ Mag and their 614th February issue.
The only catch was this would be a column which meant it would have been pretty much impossible to summarize the whole landscape of the electronic scene in less than 400 words. My approach then was to briefly describe what doujin is and list a few circles that were close to my heart while still being relevant to the diversity of genres and artists populating the scene as well as a few audio samples from the described circles. While the column was first published in the paper and digital release of the February magazine it is now available to be read on the DJ Mag website at the link below. I hope you find this to be well enough written to convey and maybe help some discover the vast world that is the “EDM” doujin music landscape.
